Narendra Modi's third surgical strike :
Yogi Adityanath as Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister
Varanasi, March 20. Detractors and supporters, both were bewildered over the selection of Yogi Adityanath as Uttar pradesh Chief Minister. Mandate-2017 is not for the Yogi, it was for subaltern empowerment. If someone wants to rationalize the Yogi's choice, an argument can be pushed that Yogi himself represents a subaltern Hinduism. His sect, Natha Sampradaya is not part of classical Hinduism. it is a mix of militant akhara tradition, cult following and folk rituals encompassing all castes and creeds. Brahimins of Kashi/Varanasi treated Natha tradition of Gorakhnath with indifference and sometimes with contempt. They dubbed Natha teaching and rituals as Gorakhdhandha (mumbo jambo).
Yogi's Natha sects was also source and an inspirations for Sufism which used Natha texts to evolve its distinct form of liberal Islam and daily rituals.
Politically, Yogi's selection is Narendra Modi's third surgical strike. after hitting terrorist camps inside Pakistan and demonetization.
Yogi is an active volcano.
Now it remains only a question of emphasis:
Hinduisation of subaltern or subalternisation of Hinduism
