India and China strategic dialogue

Foreign Secretary, Dr. S Jaishankar said in Beijing : 
" We just finished a long round of talks what was the restructured strategic dialogue with my counterpart who is the Executive Vice Minister in the Chinese Foreign Ministry Mr. Zhang Yesui. I had yesterday called on the State Counsellor Mr. Yang Jiechi. This morning I met Foreign Minister Mr. Wang Yi. We really reviewed the entirety of our relationship i.e. both the bilateral side as well as the international, regional issues. The exchange of views was very in-depth and was backed by a team of senior officials on our side who separately held discussions on specific areas which included Afghanistan, multilateral diplomacy including counter-terrorism and also bilateral relations as well as the nuclear issues.


"We had a very useful exchange on international issues. They shared their insights and perspectives. It was important at this time because the feeling was that the international situation is in flux and both India and China have been beneficiaries of a stable and open international system and at this time probably one thing that we could do together was a more stable, substantive, forward looking India-China relationship which would inject a greater amount of predictability into the international system."

Forget "regime change" in Syria, Tulsi Gabbard . Think of regime change in US!

Sanjay Leela Bhansali would violate Sati Prevention Act 1987 if film Padmavati depicts JAUHAR and with out JAUHAR it would be a sham

The gentleman is in dire strait . He can not tell day from night or Ras Leela from Ram Leela but this time around his fortunes run dry. Film Padmavati may never hit screens. Forget about Karni Sena or Rajput Sena, Padmavati's script would come clash with Sati act. At best Bhansali can make a profane love story caricaturing one of the most courageous women of human history.

THE COMMISSION OF SATI (PREVENTION) ACT, 1987

(No. 3 of 1988) says-

"glorification" in relation to sati, whether such sati, was committed before or after the commencement of this Act, includes, among other things.- "the arranging of any function to eulogise the person who has committed sati"

 "sati" means the burning or burying alive of –

 

 Any widow along with the body of her deceased husband or any other relative or with any article, object or thing associated with the husband or such relative

So, under the prevailing law of the land Bhansali can not eulogise Rani Padmini's JAUHAR. And if the  film depicts JAUHAR then the film maker violates Sati Act which invites harsh punishment. 

The act says-

Punishment for glorification of sati.- 

Whoever does any act for the glorification of sati shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which shall not be less than one year but which may extend to seven years and with fine which shall not be less than five thousand rupees but which may extend to thirty thousand rupees.
