Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar clears the air about LEMOA

Finally there is some clarity about controversial LEMOA : it is not a Defence Agreement on unrestricted accessing military bases

New Delhi. Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar informed the Rajya Sabha today (May10) that During the visit of US Secretary of Defence to India from 10-13 April 2016, it was agreed, in-principle, to conclude a Logistics Exchange Memorandum Agreement.  He said the proposed Agreement envisages a framework for logistic support for activities such as joint exercises, training or humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, on a case by case basis, on mutual consent of both countries. But  much more caution is needed as an old Arabian proverb says If the camel once gets his nose in the tent, his body will soon follow.

Indian skies soon have Russian Kavach (Shield) with S 400 Triumf missile

New Delhi. If anybody has any doubt  about depth and scope of Indo-Russian time tested relationship then here is a news . India would soon be equipped with S-400 air defence system and our skies would be safe. Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar informed the Rajya sabha that The five firing units of S-400 LRSAM system are planned for induction in Indian Air Force in 13th plan period (2017-2022). He said S-400 has better performance parameters compared to S-300 on account of (i) maximum and minimum target engagement range, (ii) minimum target engagement altitude, (iii) maximum speed of target engaged, (iv) number of targets engaged simultaneously, (v) maximum radar cross-section of targets engaged, and (vi) deployment time. He further said The Defence Acquisition Council has in its meeting held on 17th December, 2015, accorded approval for purchase of S-400 LRSAM system (Triumf Missile System) along with associated equipment and missiles from Russia. A contract has been signed for supply of five Full Mission Simulators for SU-30 MKI aircraft with a Russian firm during 2015-16.

He said Delegation level talks were held between Raksha Mantri and US Secretary of Defence on 12th April 2016 in New Delhi. New Delhi. Conspirators are desperate; plot is thickening and Prime Minster Narendra Modi is all but derailed from his agenda . Last week three developments took place apparently disconnected  but inherently well connected with a sole aim of weakening authority of the  PM and breaking his morale.
First- United States report declared him complicit in Gujarat riots
Second- A well known Hindu ideologue Arun Shourie termed him a "dark triad"personality
Third- A serving Chief Minister of national capital state of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal challenged veracity of Modi's Bachelor and Masters degree.

As far as "United States commission on International  Religious Freedom" report is concerned Anti- Modi media is in full agreement with its  observations and findings . Media downplayed the report, some  leading newspapers even did not mention neither the report nor the  Indian Foreign Office's rebuttal. The reason - not any favour to Modi.  Media was following foreign demarche not to vitiate the atmosphere of Modi's forthcoming US visit, where LSA is on table.
Modi has only one kavach (shield) to save himself and India of his dream- support of people of India. He must not lose it. Can he undertake a month long tour to drought hit regions of the country to show solidarity with suffering masses. Narendra Modi should postpone ( if not cancel)  the US visit 
New Delhi.  There are more than one reason that calls for postponement ( if not cancellation) of the US visit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The US government's USCIRF report negates Mandate-2014, insults 800 million voters of India, and humiliates Modi personally.
How can any Indian or  Modi himself  accept the US remark that, " as Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2002, he was complicit in anti-Muslim riots that occurred in that state." Issue of Gujarat riots was before the voters when Modi sought mandate from people. Despite hostile propaganda and unprecedented smear campaign voters rejected all charges levelled against Modi over the years by western establishment (including USCIRF)and native mercenaries.
Now USCIRF report again  rakes up the Gujarat farce to weaken Modi , insult Indian people and undermine Indian civilization. The report also makes it clear that the US establishment was the driving force behind the "intolerance farce" that targeted Modi government  in the last six months.

And the most astonishing development we see is that US government is wooing India to join Anti- Russia and Anti- China alliance in the New Cold War. Pro West elements have succeeded in creating an impression, internationally, that India is  ditching BRICS and Multi Polar World and joining US led alliance.
Modi has to dispel this impression forcefully and immediately. Just postpone the visit, even if by few weeks or months. It will send a desired message to Anti-Asia forces and  USCIRF.

When it happens Modi shall accept the invitation of state visit.

"I remembered a story which I had read in my childhood of Badshah Akbar and Birbal. One day it happened that a golden spoon was stolen from Badshah's mahal (palace). He didn't want it to be given for criminal investigation at that time because that would put him in a very embarrassing situation. So he called Birbal and told him that someone has stolen a golden spoon from his cutlery. What do I do? 

Birbal told him, 'I will find out the solution. Get all the servants.' He called all the servants and gave them one feet long piece of bamboo and told them that it was a magic bamboo. He told them to take it home, जिसने चोरी की होगी उसका बम्बू चार इंच बढ़ जाएगा ( thief's bamboo will increase by four inches). He told them that it was a magical bamboo piece. Everyone believed Birbal and they went home. The one who had stolen the golden spoon, was a worried man. He could not sleep up to 2 o' clock. Then he suddenly got an idea. He got up at 2 o' clock, brought a knife and cut his bamboo by four inches, expecting it to grow by twelve inches the next day morning. Next day morning, of course, he got caught. "

Pointing towards congress members he quipped , "What I find in their argument is that they have cut all their bamboos by four inches." 
And at the end of his reply Parrikar said, "किसका 4 इंच का बम्बू कट गया, वह समझ गया।" (the thief who cut his bamboo by 4 inches understood the story )

(a) & (b) The US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) has expressed desire to send a delegation to India.

Government does not see the locus standi of a foreign entity like USCIRF to pronounce on the state of Indian citizens' constitutionally protected rights. 

The Government looks forward to continuing working with the United States Government for sharing of experience and best practice on all issues of mutual interest under the established bilateral mechanisms like the India-United States Global Issues Forum."

The last para speaks of the timidity of Narendra Modi government . Apparently the government considers issue of religious freedom in India as an issue of "mutual interest' and is ready to discuss it in India-United States Global Issues Forum.
One of these "established bilateral mechanisms" will be Prime Minister Modi's forthcoming US visit ?

In his speech at a town hall event in New Delhi, and again a few weeks later at the Prayer Breakfast, President Obama underscored the importance of religious freedom to India’s success, urging the country not to be “splintered along the lines of religious faith” and stated that India is a place where “. . .religious faiths of all types have, on occasion, been targeted by other people of faith, simply due to their heritage and their beliefs - acts of intolerance that would have shocked [Mahatma] Gandhiji, the person who helped to liberate that nation.”

And next sentence is Barack's real catch - he turned a Devil into an Angel .

Report says, "In mid-February 2015, at an event honoring Indian Catholic saints, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated publicly, for the first time, that his government “will ensure that there is complete freedom of faith and that everyone has the undeniable right to retain or adopt the religion of his or her choice without coercion or undue influence.” This statement is notable given longstanding allegations that, as Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2002, he was complicit in anti-Muslim riots that occurred in that state."

Lame duck president deserves a Bharat Ratna for this feat .

The US again touches Narendra Modi's raw nerve

New Delhi/ Varanasi. They still see Narendra Modi from "Gujarat Prism". The  USCIRF report is not an exception , it only confirms a trend started more than a decade ago when Gujarat riots took place . The western establishment and their Indian parrots have been singing the same marsiya  and spewing venom against Modi. As Modi himself said the other day his detractor open the "dictionary of abuses" in the morning every day and select gaalis to be hurled upon him.

Indian people are accustomed to the abusive words used against Modi- "butcher of Gujarat", Nero, Hitler, a religious fanatic who presided over genocide, pogrom, ethnic cleansing, mass murder in Gujarat. And they   know that this venom is aimed not only against Modi but against civilizational India.

Should Modi ignore the USCIRF report and move on or at least on this occasion he should convey, in not uncertain terms- enough is enough. He can very well use Capitol Hill event to deliver an Indian narrative , even if it falls  on deaf ears.
