Prime Minister Narendra Modi , without naming Jallikattu, today supported the games and sports popular in a particular state and region . He said each state has its identity and identify itself with a specific game. Addressing tourism and Culture Ministers conference through video conferencing, Modi said that we should not limit our self to international games and sports like cricket . Each state and region of the country has its own peculiar game and efforts should made to popularize and encourage it. He suggested that a state wise mapping of games and spots should be undertaken to harness the local talent.

Varanasi. Nandi, the sacred bull is an integral part of this holy city of Varanasi, winter capital of lord Shiva. Dozens of bulls roam on the roads and narrow lanes of this ancient city, even in the busiest market area. They are seen just relaxing or sometimes chasing the better half  of the bovine. At Godaulia crossing, the heart of the city, Nandi can be seen standing under the canopy of a traffic booth, regulating the movement of people and vehicles . Sometimes in the middle of the road they perform the task of divider. Without them the traffic chaos would be much worse in the city. The serpentine narrow lane of the old city are sometimes get blocked if Shiva's vehicle decides to halt and relax for a few minutes. Stranded people throw water on him to remind that lanes also belong to human beings.
During Prime Minister Narendra Modi's last visit to the holy city, his parliamentarian constituency, the administration rounded up dozens of bulls and transported  them to a goshala, a few miles away . Local people felt  offended by this sacrilege. For Bananarsis Nandi is more important than Narendra Modi. The sacred bull represents culture and spirit of Kashi more than any political leader . fortunately bulls make a return to the city and city resumed its normal civic life.
